Cecil Charles Windsor Aldin [1870 - 1935] will always be remembered in the hunting community for his relaxed and easy graphic style, depicting hunting scenes and in particular hounds and puppies. His comic style led him to illustrate such printed works as "The Pickwick Papers" [Charles Dickens] and work for Cadburys designing their advertising posters. His other great works were delicate illustrations of English architectural scenes of Churches, Abbeys and Inns. Born in Slough, his artistic talent drew him to London to study animal anatomy at the South Kensington School of Art, this lead on to his working for the animal painter Frank Calderon. On his departure from London he moved to Henley-on-Thames where he fulfilled his passion of hunting to the full and became Master of the Foxhounds in 1914.
